About Lola’s Broom Stick and Candle
Lola’s Broom Stick and Candle became a reality for me on March 3, 2025. The name came from a special rescue cat named Lola, my mom’s beloved companion. When we first brought her home, she was very sick and needed constant care. I spent many sleepless nights worried she may not survive, but determined to give her every chance I could.
Lola reminded me of another rescue kitten named Apollo. She had been found in a shopping cart in the middle of a Florida summer, badly injured and struggling to breathe. Despite everything, Apollo fought hard and made an incredible recovery. Sadly, she passed away during a routine surgery on March 11, 2024. We later learned she had been surviving with severely underdeveloped lungs. The vet told us she should never have survived as long as she did.
Apollo taught me that even the smallest life is worth fighting for. That lesson, and an unyielding motivation born of this impactful experience helped me give Lola the chance she deserved. I would never give up. Never quit on a life.
Today, Lola is thriving and living the life of a very spoiled princess.
My logo is deeply personal. There's a tattoo on my arm inspired by all the cats who have touched my life, including Apollo, Ninja Kitty, and Morgan. They are reminders that the animals who come into our lives, even briefly, become part of our souls.
Nature has always spoken to me in quiet but profound ways. My love of animals led me to explore the spiritual side of nature, including animal spirits and totems. It turns out my lifelong totem is the cat. Graceful, mysterious, independent, and sometimes a little mischievous, cats embody a spirit I’ve always felt connected to.
Lola’s Broom Stick and Candle was created from our story, that connection to animals, nature, and the quiet magic that surrounds us every day.
